"Reinventing the Comic Hero"
Opening at Guilford Art Center

Contemporary artistic interpretations of classic comic book heroes will be on view at the Guilford Art Center in identity theft: reinventing the comic hero. Michael Shapcott '07 is amoung the artist whoses work is on display. This exhibition runs July 11 through August 14 in the Mill Gallery. identity theft poses the question of what happens when Spiderman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and other iconic characters from comic books are re-imagined and reinvented by some of today's best underground and emerging artists. Through the art works on view - paintings, watercolors, found object sculpture, digital renderings and more - the exhibition explores this subject as a means of connecting and complicating the relationship between hero and viewer. Guilford Art Center is located at 411 Church Street in Guilford, Connecticut. |

at the iO gallery located at 131 Kent Road South (Route 7 & 45) in Cornwall Bridge, CT.

2008 Faculty Art Show
There will be a reception on Friday, March 7, 2008, 6pm-9pm. The top notch faculty of Paier College of Art will proudly displayed some of their current work. The Faculty Shows are always motivating events for everyone involved. There will also be a showing on Monday, March 10th between 12-3pm.
2007 Alumni Art Show
The Second Bi-Annual Alumni Art Show began with a Reception, Friday, February 9, 2007, 6pm–9pm. Gallery Times included Saturday, February 10, 12pm–2pm
Monday, February 12 , 11:30am–2pm
Tom Prete, illustrator/Fine Artist, one of the school's oldest alumni had a number of pieces on display and was doing characture for everyone who sat for him. Other Alumni included; Andy Yelenok, Beth Ellis, Beverly Branch, Carissa Viietri, Daniel Stegos, Jane Barrientos, Lisa Porfido, Margo Arnold, Martha Struber, nick Frasco, Paul Popolino, Rickm Daskan, and Tony (Bolony) Julianno. These Professional Artists dispayed many different styles and techniques in a variety of mediums. Alumni were present to discussed their work and shared their experiences.
The plans for the next Alumni Show are already under way. The goal for the next show is to be all inclusive. Please contact the College, if you have any interest in participating in the next Alumni Show.
